Stuntman Killed in Bulgaria Filming Expendables 2

Police said on Friday the two men, whose names and nationalities were not disclosed, were performing a stunt involving an explosion on an inflatable boat on the Ognyanovo dam, just outside the capital, Sofia. The incident occurred late on Thursday.

The injured man has undergone a five-hour operation and his condition was stable, doctors are quoted by the BTA news agency as saying.
In a statement, the production company Nu Image/Millennium Films confirmed the "unfortunate accident", adding "the filmmakers are working closely with the authorities".
No information has been released yet as to the identities of the men involved in the incident. A representative from the production company behind the Sylvester Stallone-produced film, Nu Image/Millennium Films, released a statement, saying, "It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident."
The accident occurred while the second unit filmed at the Ognyanovo dam in Bulgaria. None of the film's stars were present during the incident, as the first unit was filming at a resort more than two hours away.
"Expendables 2" is scheduled to hit theaters next August and stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. It is the sequel to the hit 2010 action film written and directed by Stallone. The sequel reunites most of the cast, while adding Simon West as director and adding Norris and Van Damme to the lineup.

Roma Leader 'King Kiro' arrested in Bulgaria

"Kiril Rachkov was arrested at 1:00 am (2200 GMT) this morning. He is accused of issuing murder threats," Veselin Vuchkov, deputy interior minister, said in parliament.

"King Kiro" is a product of the unstable political system in the country formed after the fall of communism. According to unconfirmed sources "King Kiro" is associated with famous Roma buying votes during the Bulgarian elections. His influence among the Roma community and the population in Bulgaria has done a very sought after and desirable in providing more votes and victory.

The 69-year-old faces six years in prison if convicted.
Nicknamed "King Kiro", he is widely suspected of being involved in a range of criminal activities, and locals in his home village of Katunitsa accuse authorities of turning a blind eye.
Some 2,000 people rallied in Katunitsa last weekend after a van driven by one of his relatives hit and killed a local youth. Three empty houses belonging to Rachkov were set on fire and three police officers were injured.
Nightly demonstrations have taken place around Bulgaria since, involving chants of anti-Roma, anti-Turkish and even Nazi slogans, and "Roma Pride" marches set for October 1 have been cancelled because of fear of clashes.

Josh Duhamel helped raised more than $1 million (£625,000) for his North Dakota hometown by hosting a Black Eyed Peas concert on Saturday.
The actor recruited his wife Fergie's band to headline a benefit show in his native Minot after heavy flooding forced 11,000 residents in the city from their homes earlier this summer.
About 16,000 fans turned up at the Minot Rising show at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, where singer Fergie gave a shout out to the locals.
She told the crowd, "This is a beautiful, beautiful vision for us, especially for me because I have family here now... It might be small, but it has the biggest heart in America. North Dakota, we love you so much!"
Her bandmate will.i.am later took to his Twitter.com page to recognise Duhamel's efforts in organising the fundraiser, writing, "Thank you for you (sic) passion, determination, and vision to do good, and ability to bring people together for a good cause... Bep had a concert in N Dakota & raised 1 million dollars for Minot flood recovery."
All proceeds will benefit flood victims.

Virginia State Troopers pulled over the Olympic gold medallist after another driver spotted his vehicle swerving on a highway in the state and reported him in the early hours of Sunday, according to TMZ.com.

Angle was taken into custody at Warren County Jail and later released after posting $2,000 (£1,250) bail.

I'm With You is the band's first album to feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, following the departure of John Frusciante in 2009.

Google doodle celebrates late Mercury's 65th birthday

Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday has been celebrated by Google's homepage.

The search engine giant has today displayed a video animation to pay tribute to the late Queen frontman, nearly 20 years after he tragically passed away.

The 'Google doodle' sees a cartoon version of Mercury perform one of Queen's most famous hits 'Don't Stop Me Now' above the search box.

The animation is available to Google users outside of the US, while American users will have a belated birthday doodle as Mercury's actual birthday falls on Labour Day.
Mercury's family, friends, guests and celebrities are to descend on the Savoy Hotel in London tonight to celebrate the occasion and to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was set up by fellow Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor together with their manager Jim Beach following Mercury's death, to raise funds to help fight HIV AIDS worldwide.

Mercury's birthday will also act as a key focal point for the Freddie For A Day campaign, which was launched last year through the global Queen fanbase.

Fans from all over the globe will dress up as the star for a day to gain sponsorship, which will go towards the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Queen have previously announced plans to reissue their last five studio albums on September 5 in memory of Mercury.

Now 300 star Butler has become the latest victim, according to Britain's Daily Star Sunday, with hackers reportedly posting details of his private Google Mail account on the web.

According to a report by Deadline, Eddie Murphy has emerged as the front-runner to present the 84th Academy Awards ceremony.

Brett Ratner is producing the show this year, and apparently Murphy's is the name he'll be putting forward to Academy president Tom Sherak.

It shouldn't come as a huge surprise to learn that Ratner is favouring Murphy, as the pair have recently worked together on upcoming comedy Tower Heist, a kind of everyman's Ocean's Eleven.

With his background in stand-up comedy, Murphy could certainly bring a bit of much needed energy to the proceedings, not too mention a welcome smattering of 'edge.'

Ever since Jennifer Lopez and her ass split from Marc Anthony, the general consensus has been that the entire thing was his fault. He was supposedly jealous, controlling, and had a wandering eye.
Then he finally gave an interview with ABC news describing that “these things happen.” No one was at fault and no one cheated. The marriage just ran its course.

NOW, numerous “sources” are reporting that Marc is full of shit and the demise of their marriage was indeed because of him and that the rumors are definitely true.
Since this whole thing started, I have yet to hear a bad word about Jennifer Lopez. So either the rumors are true and she’s completely innocent, or she’s just paying people way more to say good things about her and bad things about Marc.
Either way, it doesn’t seem like he can win.
I have to feel bad for him to an extent, since so much of what the media reports is bullshit. For all we know, this COULD be all her fault. We’ll never know the truth.

Born in the Chinese province of Canton, Yen came to Hong Kong at age two. He lived there until he was eleven, then moved to Boston, MA. He spent his early teenage years there, where his mother, Bow Sim-Mark, a world famous Wushu and Tai Chi master, ran the internationally known Chinese Wushu Research Institute, and martial arts became a major influence in his life. His footsteps would soon lead him down the less traveled path, his destiny perhaps. But first he would study classical piano, favoring Chopin, music being the other inspiration in his life. His father, Klysler Yen, the Boston editor of Sing Tao, an international Chinese daily paper, plays the violin and a similar-sounding stringed instrument, the Chinese erh-wu while his mother sings soprano. The younger Yen's sensitivity to rhythm would eventually make its way into the films he directed, adding texture and depth.

As a teenager, the rebellious Yen began running wild on the mean streets of Boston's notorious Combat Zone.

Concerned, his parents arranged a detour for him-sending him to Beijing, where he would spend two years training with the famed Beijing Wushu Team, studying with the same master as Jet Li. Yen became the first non-PRC Chinese to be accepted at the school, thus opening the door for others to follow in future. While the training was intense and rigorous, Yen wanted more, so his time at the school became only a sojourn. En route back to the U.S, he made a side trip to Hong Kong and was introduced to film director Yuen Wo-ping, the action choreographer for 1999's The Matrix. Yuen, who had launched the career of Jackie Chan in Snake in Eagle's Shadow and Drunken Master, was looking for a new kung fu movie hero. In Yen, he found his man, and so began a new journey.

Mitchell Scott "Mitch" Hewer is born 1 July 1989 in Bristol. An English actor, who is best known for his role of Maxxie Oliver in the E4 teen drama, Skins. He has also starred in Britannia High as the all around talent Danny Miller. At the end of the second series of Skins, his character — along with the rest of the main cast — was written out of the show.

It’s hard to imagine a contemporary sports movie packing in more than the usual cliches about a fighting spirit -- almost as hard as it is to imagine Michael Lewis’ idea-heavy "Moneyball" becoming a movie in the first place –- but the trailer for Brad Pitt's September film manages to upend both preconceptions.

The piece, which hit the Web on Thursday, begins with a bit of "Bad News Bears" familiarity, as Pitt's Billy Beane, of course the Oakland A's general manager, tries to win by fielding a group of misfits. But once that's out of the way it buckles down to the more interesting dramatic subject of a man trying to change a system while carrying no small amount of doubt himself, rendering visual the story Lewis told in the Beane plot line of his 2003 nonfiction bestseller.

In between, it flashes just enough numbers and spreadsheets to imply that Lewis' ideas about sabermetrics aren't entirely forgotten, while also suggesting that Beane's confidence -- and his clashes with the baseball-scout old guard -- provide some humor.

"If we win with this team, we’ll have changed the game," Pitt’s character says. It's of course far too early to say whether the movie will be a game-changer in the Hollywood sense of the term. It certainly has the team –- which, in addition to Pitt includes writers Steven Zallian and Aaron Sorkin, a (refreshingly less jocular) Jonah Hill and director Bennett Miller, handpicked by Pitt because of his feature debut, "Capote."

And while there's always the question with a movie like this of whether the stakes can match the drama –- it is just about a baseball game, after all -- the trailer contains plenty of hints that Miller reaches base safely, and then some, with his first film in six years.

Disney will release Real Steel in October, but DreamWorks have apparently already asked John Gatins, who wrote the screenplay, to begin work on the next instalment.

The first film, directed by Date Night's Shawn Levy, tells the story of down and out boxer Charlie Kenton. Charlie is spurred on when the son he abandoned comes back into his life and he finds a discarded robot who he builds up to be a prize fighter.

Stone - Starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton & Milla Jovovich

Stone is one of those movies that, after watching twenty minutes of it, you will wish it were never made. Edward Norton (as title character Stone) and Robert De Niro (as Jack) are reunited for the first time since The Score. However, whereas The Score actually had characters you were interested in watching, the characters in Stone are sensationalized and unbelievable to a fault. Milla Jovovich (as Lucetta) does do some of the best acting in her career, but unfortunately it is overshadowed by a plot that starts off too artsy and then goes on a downward spiral of random craziness and piss-poor banter.
Stone starts off a very disturbing scene from the past. A younger Jack sits watching TV. When his wife threatens to leave him, he storms upstairs and threatens to throw their daughter out the window if she doesn't renege. As powerful as the scene could have been, within the context of the rest of the movie it just stands as a useless throw in to say that Jack is not necessarily the nicest person alive and that he and his wife are not in a happy marriage. This could have been accomplished in innumerable ways without Jack holding his child out the window. As such, the scene is just disturbing, especially with the ominous music playing in the background. What makes the scene stand out even more is the use of a fly throughout the scene as a metaphor. Once again, it's like the writer Angus MacLachlan and Director John Curran were going for some kind of Black Swan imagery without any clear idea of where they were going with it.
Now that the useless exposition is over, the story is actually about convicted arsonist Stone and his developing relationship with his parole officer Jack. Stone wears his lack of schooling on his face and mannerisms. Maybe, the movie was doomed from the moment they decided to make Ed Norton wear corn rolls. Once you see this, it immediately snaps you out of the story. He doesn't fit the role and characterization. Although the special features state that Norton worked with inmates, his clean-cut demeanor stands in opposition to the character he is trying to play. Then several comments about sex with his girlfriend Lucetta do more to make you feel uncomfortable than bring you into his character.
Okay, back to the story. Stone is potentially up for parole, and Jack is almost at retirement. Jack wants to see his cases through. The two engage in a lackluster psychological battle as each one tries to get into the mind of the other. Jack wants to figure out if Stone is rehabilitated and deserves to be paroled, while Stone tries to force Jack to realize that the two are no different. It would be a great dynamic if Stone were more like Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) in The Silence of the Lambs. As it stands, the film jumps from one forced moment to the next. Stone tries to make De Niro come to terms with his past, but his tactics and personality lack the intelligence necessary to make it believable.
Milla Jovovich serves as a grounding force in the movie. Although her character is somewhat outlandish, she's elementary school teacher who is somewhat of a nymphomaniac. The setup is like a teenager's sexual fantasy. Yet, her character does more to drive the psychological battle between Stone and Jack since they are unable to do it themselves.

Showing little interest in his father's oil business, which his two brothers later joined, Matthew was longing for a change of scenery, and spent a year in Australia, washing dishes and shoveling chicken manure. Back to the States, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, originally wishing to be a lawyer. But, when he discovered an inspirational Og Mandino book "The Greatest Salesman in the World" before one of his final exams, he suddenly knew he had to change his major from law to film. He began his acting career in 1991, appearing in student films and commercials in Texas and directed short films as Chicano Chariots (1992). Once, in his hotel bar in Austin, he met the casting director and producer Don Phillips, who introduced him to director Richard Linklater for his next project. At first, Linklater thought Matthew was too handsome to play the role of a guy chasing high school girls in his coming-of-age drama Dazed and Confused (1993), but cast him after Matthew grew out his hair and mustache. His character was initially in three scenes but the role grew to more than 300 lines as Linklater encouraged him to do some improvisations. During this time, he also wrote, directed and starred in the 20-minute short The Rebel (1998). Later, in Jonathan Mostow's U-571 (2000), McConaughey portrayed the officer Lt. Tyler in a WW II story of a daring mission of American submariners, trying to capture the Enigma cipher machine. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark dancer Christopher Tierney returns to the show as an audience member for the first time since his now famous fall on Friday (January 7) in New York.
Christopher fell from a platform 30 feet off the ground during a performance of the show on December 20th, sustaining a fracture in his skull, four broken ribs, a bruised lung, a broken scapula, three fractured vertebrae and a broken bone close to his elbow.
It is expected that Christopher will be able to return to the show in two to three months, which he is incredibly optimistic about.

The pretrial hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray continues Wednesday as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge decides whether there is "probable cause" to try him on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of pop star Michael Jackson.
The hearing, which began Tuesday, is expected to last two or three weeks, with 20 to 30 witnesses testifying.
On Tuesday, Jackson's former security chief testified that Murray seemed not to know how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation as he waited for paramedics to arrive at the singer's house.
Faheem Muhammed said he and and guard Alberto Alvarez saw Murray crouched next to Jackson's bed "in a panicked state asking, 'Does anyone know CPR?' "
"I looked at Alberto because we knew Dr. Murray was a heart surgeon, so we were shocked," Muhammed said.
When defense attorney Ed Chernoff asked if perhaps Murray was asking for help because he was tired, Muhammed said, "The way that he asked it is as if he didn't know CPR."
Jackson appeared to be dead at that time, with his "eyes open and his mouth open, just laying there," Muhammed said.
Prosecutor David Walgren earlier said that Murray used "ineffectual CPR with one hand while the patient was prone on a soft bed." Two hands with the patient prone on a hard surface is the proper method, he said.
Muhammed, the third witness on the opening day of the hearing, said he never saw Murray performing CPR on Jackson before paramedics arrived and carried him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Jackson's mother, Katherine, sister La Toya and brothers Randy and Jackie sat in the second row of the courtroom during Tuesday's opening session.

That’s not all. Usher invited one lucky lady, Vanessa, to join him on stage while he sang “Nice and Slow”. Well the song title says it all, since I can’t really say what happened on stage, but it definitely got you aroused. Only in Miami right? For most of the show the sexual component played a huge part of the performance not just from Usher but also from both his male and female dancers. Need I say more?
But let’s not get lost in that. Usher doesn’t hide behind his dance moves or the grandiose stage tactics. There were quite a few songs Usher sang solo on the stage. For all the upbeat club music one associates with Usher there is a flip side of quiet sensitivity, a rhythmic almost hypnotic tone that takes you to the stars and back. Usher’s voice range is vast and his falsetto reminded me of Philip Bailey from Earth Wind and Fire.
It was this combination of vocals and dancing that reminded me of Motown just cranked up a thousand decibels. It was nice to see a young performer who has class and style, who truly thinks about the entire presentation. Usher definitely appeals to all your senses keeping you spellbound until the final note is sung.

Vin Diesel Updates Next Riddick Movie

Vin Diesel has been dropping cryptic hints about the next Riddick film on Facebook for over a year now. His latest, passed along just before Christmas, offers a first glimpse into what the story might entail based on direction he's been given to prepare for the character. Vin teases that David Twohy, the writer/director of both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, has challenged him to create three different body looks for the third Riddick film. There will be the ripped Dom (aka Fast and Furious) look, the "lean" Furyan look, and the "DiNorscio" look.
DiNorscio refers to Giacomo "Jackie" DiNorscio, a real-life crime lord played by Vin in the 2006 film Find Me Guilty. Vin sported hair and a suit in the role which may be what Twohy is referring to.
Attached to the Facebook update is a 2010 dated image of Riddick titled "Riddick Returns." It's likely fan art and not part of pre-production but I've included it for you to check out below regardless.
Based on this update, it can be assumed Twohy is forging ahead on the next Riddick story but a script is not yet locked in. Vin will surely pass along more updates as he sees fit.

Muscle power added to 'Fast Five' by Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson will join the cast of ‘Fast Five’, the fifth installment of the Furious franchise which still leaves fans of chase thriller wanting more.
The’ Fast and Furious 4’ grossed a $155,064,265 domestically and $359,264,265 worldwide (making it the most successful film in the franchise) and is the second highest-grossing film in the car genre, behind ‘Cars’.

The franchise which has managed to retain most of its talent since its first installment will have Johnson playing Hobbs, a cop on the trail of street racers Van Diesel and Paul Walker. Justin Lin will direct the ‘Fast Five’, his third in the series. According to him ,the challenge in directing the series has been in trying to top its muscle cars and muscled stars.
"I think what keeps it going is that it's not really about cars," Lin said to USA Today. "I have to be honest: I'm not a big car guy. At the core, ‘Fast and Furious’ is about family and how to create them."
Getting Dwayne Johnson has added to the muscle power. "One of the things I've always loved about the franchise — the reason I think it's been so successful over the years — is that they never stop trying to up the action," Johnson said in an interview .

Johnson will wield his muscle with a Gurkha, a 10-ton armored military vehicle that looks like a Humvee on high on adrenalin.
The shooting for the film ended in November and it is slated for release in April. Producer Neal H Moritsz of Universal 4 revealed in an interview that the sixth installment of the series is also being developed.

Christopher Tierney, 31, who fell at least 20 feet in the Broadway production, started taking his first steps Friday following back surgery Tuesday at Bellevue Hospital, according to Tim Tierney.

The injuries suffered by Christopher Tierney in “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” could have been far worse if he had not tucked his body and rolled sideways midair as he fell more than 20 feet at Monday’s performance, doctors have told his family. “My understanding is that Chris is fortunate to be alive,” Mr. Tierney’s father, Timothy Tierney, said in a telephone interview on Sunday.
In the fullest accounting yet of the accident and injuries, Mr. Tierney’s father said that his son, a 31-year-old actor and veteran dancer, was falling headfirst but managed to land on his right side in the basement below the stage at the Foxwoods Theater. That is where he plummeted midperformance when a safety tether to his harness malfunctioned during an acrobatic maneuver. He sustained a hairline fracture in his skull, a broken scapula, a broken bone close to his elbow, four broken ribs, a bruised lung and three fractured vertebrae, his father said. Mr. Tierney is one of several performers who play Spider-Man during stunt sequences.
After back surgery on Wednesday, Mr. Tierney took his first steps on Friday with the aid of a brace and a walker. He remains in the intensive care unit at Bellevue Hospital Center, his father said; family members had hoped to move him back to their home in New Hampshire for rehabilitation, but he is to remain in New York City. Doctors will decide on Monday whether to begin rehab therapy this week.
Timothy Tierney said doctors were “cautiously optimistic” that his son would eventually resume his performing career. “If they’d had to fuse Chris’s vertebrae during surgery, that would have just been very awkward for dancing, because his mobility would have been restricted,” he said. “Fortunately, they did not have to fuse. “We just feel very blessed that Chris is alive and well, and thank goodness that he knew enough to roll onto his right side and land that way rather than land on his head or back,” Mr. Tierney continued. “Some people fall from a lesser height than Chris and suffer more damage, even fatal damage.”
“Spider-Man” — the most expensive (at $65 million) and the most technically complex show ever on Broadway, with 38 flying and acrobatic sequences that require safety harnesses and wires — canceled two performances on Wednesday after Mr. Tierney’s accident, the fourth injury to a “Spider-Man” actor during rehearsals or performances since September. At the direction of state and federal workplace safety inspectors, the producers put in a place a new safety plan that involves more backstage crew members rigging up the actors for stunt maneuvers. “Spider-Man” performances resumed on Thursday night.
Timothy Tierney said his son did not assign any blame for his fall and was not considering a lawsuit. “Chris told me that the word ‘accident’ was invented for a reason, and this was an accident, pure and simple,” Mr. Tierney said. “He’s just chomping at the bit to return to dancing, to go back to ‘Spider-Man.’ He loves this production so much. The second world premiere in as many months of a UAE-funded Hollywood film raised the curtain last night at the Dubai International Film Festival. The Way Back, which will be considered as a nominee for the Oscars ahead of its general release in January, was co-produced by Imagenation Abu Dhabi, the film production arm of Abu Dhabi Media Company, which publishes The National.
Walking the red carpet at the film festival ahead of the screening were Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and Peter Weir.
There were plenty of screams from the fans who waited eagerly for the two young male stars Farrell and Sturgess to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
Harris, who is tipped by Awards Daily, an online magazine devoted to the film industry, as "a very very strong supporting actor contender" for the 2011 Oscars, was joined on the carpet by the chairman of the film festival, Abdulhamid Juma.They were joined by Arabic stars Rima Khcheich, a Lebanese singer, and Sherine Adel, who starred in the Egyptian movie 678.
Sheila Whitaker, the director of international programmes for the film festival, said The Way Back was an excellent film, with a great cast, from a well-respected director, no matter where its funding came from.
Whitaker, the former director of the London Film Festival, said: "In a sense, it doesn't matter where the film came from. Every film I select is there for a reason and this film has a great director, cast and a fascinating story.

The film chronicles the escape of a small group of multinational prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940, and their ensuing journey over thousands of miles across five countries, and is based on the true story written by Slawomir Rawicz, a Polish Second World War veteran.
Among the crowds of fans gathered on the red carpet to watch the film's stars attend the screening was a pair of 15-year-old British girls who had just received a pair of tickets from a generous passer by.
Harriet Sylvester, who is visiting her friend, Kitty Shafto, said she was thrilled to receive tickets to see one of her favourite movie stars.
"I am only here on holiday and I can't believe this is happening," she said. "I'm really excited to be able to see Colin Farrell and the movie."
Barbara Hastings, 56, also from the UK, said she wasn't as excited to see the stars as to see the film.

"It is an extraordinary story of survival, and I am looking forward to seeing Peter Weir's film. He has a wonderful reputation as a filmmaker," she said.
Theresa Puri, 31, who was born in Prague, said she was moved to tears: "I was very small when these events were taking place but the history is the background of my life. I felt very moved by the film."

Mark Wahlberg went a round with temptation at the Cinema Society party for his movie "The Fighter" on Friday night. Temptation lost.
The 39-year-old actor and "Entourage" executive producer, who plays boxer "Irish" Micky Ward in David O. Russell's riveting film, was on his best behavior at the post-screening party at the Top of the Standard - preferring to throw punches for the cameras than get hit on by female fans.
Indeed, when a young beauty approached him in the VIP section with the line, "Well, I'm the single girl and you're the married man," Wahlberg wasn't amused.
Wahlberg preferred to cut loose on the red carpet with co-star Christian Bale, who plays his older half-brother Dickie Eklund, a washed-up boxer who overcomes his demons to help his little bro shine. (The film, which is sure to be a contender in the Oscar ring, had the audience cheering.)
When we asked Wahlberg whether he or the intense Bale would win in a boxing match, he replied: "Myself. No question."
He drove the point home when Bale arrived over an hour late to the Men's Health-sponsored screening at the School of Visual Arts.
Wahlberg ducked behind a photographer and yelled, "Hey, Christian, who would win in a fight between you and Mark?"
"You know the answer to that, mate. Don't start," replied a smiling Bale, who later told a reporter: "I think I'd win."
The most interesting answer came from New York native Melissa Leo, who's unforgettable as the men's mother. "It would matter entirely who got off the first blow," she told us.
Our other favorite red-carpet moment came when Wahlberg ran into fashion designer Calvin Klein, who helped make the former Marky Mark an international star in the early 1990s by casting the then-rapper in his underwear ads.
The all grown-up Wahlberg greeted Klein with a smile, saying: "Hey, buddy, you staying out of trouble?"

Thirty-one male celebrities appear naked in the new issue of GT Magazine to promote awareness of HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust.

Some of the well known names involved include X Factor boybands The Reason and FYD, last year’s runner-up Lloyd Daniels, and soap stars Chris Fountain, Stefan Booth, Daniel Brocklebank and Sam Clark.

Jody Latham from Shameless, singer Shaun Smith from Britain’s Got Talent and Jon Lee from S Club 7, plus Big Brother housemates Rodrigo Lopes, JJ Bird and Brian Belo also appear.

1 HE LOVES HIS SEGWAY
Bieber got a lot of press this past summer using a Segway scooter to escape from a crowd of female fans in Phoenix, but it was also his chosen mode of transportation to scoot around backstage at the ACC. In fact, we heard him before we saw him “Yo, dudes!” he called out as he rounded a corner, the bright blue Segway shining in the light. He hopped off so lightly and with such ease that one of the tenors wanted to try it. “Keep still, man, and go with the flow. It takes care of the balance itself,” was his advice, but the tenor (who shall remain nameless!) started wobbling on it and the Segway was retired.
2 HE'S GOTTEN REALLY THIN
Think of all the times you've seen Bieber in print or on TV. He's always seemed like a cherubic lad, not quite the Pillsbury Doughboy, but the kind of kid whose cheeks older woman always wanted to pinch. In fact, the giant poster for him that filled the wall behind his stage at the ACC showed just such a visage.
But the young man next to me had no weight to spare. Not sickly, just lean and compact. Perhaps most importantly, the eyes that shine out at you from underneath those bangs now look as though they've seen a lot in a very little while. He's not a boyish teen idol any more, but a young man, with a bit of danger about him. And in the world of pop stardom, that's a very good thing.
3 HIS HAIR HAS A LIFE OF ITS OWN
When I told people I was going to spend some time with Bieber, the one request from everyone was “find out about his hair.” Those eminently flappable bangs have fascinated men, women and children around the world and I was supposed to discover their secret. Here's the news, everybody. There is no secret.
Bieber's hair owes its appeal to two things: its own God-given shine and the work of a really good stylist. How can I tell? I swear that no less than 20 occasions in our time together, he lifted up his hat, shook his head and those bangs fell back into shape naturally every time. No product need apply.
4 HE'S A CONSIDERATE GUY
It happened really quickly, the kind of moment I don't think anybody noticed except Bieber, me and the third guy involved. He was one of the technicians who had to move a ramp backstage into position quickly as the tenors and Bieber walked over it. A fairly routine task, but something went wrong. The tenors passed over fine, but just as Bieber started up the ramp, the guy slipped and a mass of wood and metal crashed onto his foot. Bieber stopped instantly, bent over the man and asked “You okay, man?” The technician nodded silently, Bieber clapped him warmly on the shoulder and bounded onto the stage. One of those random moments of kindness that pass without notice. Most of the time.
5 HE LIKES TO HAVE FUN
Onstage with the tenors, Bieber chattered with them in the tradition of variety shows since time immemorial, but interestingly Bieber didn't want to stick to scripted patter. Instead, he goofed around with his band, practised new dance moves and demonstrated an onstage trick (seeming to throw the microphone stand to the floor then bringing it magically back up again) Then he attempted to teach the tenors how to duplicate it. “Feel it fall, man, then kick it with your foot.” They tried and got it. Sort of. Bieber had the good grace not to mock them.
6 HE'S NOBODY'S FOOL
The high point of Bieber's appearance was his new song, “Pray.” Before a small audience of invited fans (99.99 per cent female and teenage), Bieber sold the song with the kind of full-out energy you've seen if you've ever caught him in live performance.
He had been told it would be a one-take affair and he gave it all he had. Pretty amazing, in light of the fact he had a live concert coming in a few hours. But when it was over, it seemed that the CBC people wanted him to sing it all full-out again. He held his ground. “Things are getting shady,” he said firmly and a compromise was finally reached involving a few extra pickup shots. Bieber knew his fans that evening wouldn't want to be cheated.
7 HE'S GOT SOMETHING TO SAY
Bieber has admitted before that his new holiday song, “Pray,” was inspired by his devotion to the late Michael Jackson's work, in particular, “Man in the Mirror.”
But when I asked Bieber what really made him start to write the song, he said, “So many hurts and hopes across the world were very inspiring. I think we should all pray for a ‘better day.' There are so many troubles in the world but we just have to bow our heads and pass them along for God to handle and trust that all will be okay.”
8 HE LOVES THE HOLIDAY SEASON: During one of the pauses in shooting, Bieber was asked how he felt about this time of year and what he missed in particular about being in Stratford. “I miss just being around my friends and family. There's nothing like spending the holiday season at home but I've been travelling a lot and really experiencing some great things. I'm very blessed.
9 HE'S GRATEFUL: While waiting for some lights to be reset, the tenors were discussing what they were going to buy various relatives and friends for Christmas and Bieber suddenly got a faraway look in his eyes. I asked him what the toughest Christmas in his youth had been like, but he chose to see the glass as half-full instead. “I don't ever feel that way. I just think the best way to look at it is that I've had some great Christmas memories! Just spending time with family and friends is enough for me.” Did he have any Christmas wishes for the world? “I have a lot of wishes, but basically, I wish that people would be happy.”
10 HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE AN EXIT: The taping was over, the fans heading home, the lights coming down. Just enough time for Bieber to chill a bit, grab some dinner and then nail it to the wall for 20,000 screaming fans 90 minutes later. As he's heading to his dressing room, he stops, puts his arm around me and turns us to a waiting photographer. Kodak moment over, he punches my arm lightly. “Catch you later man.” One of the tenors, watching him leave, wisely observed, that “He's growing up fast. Faster than the speed of sound.”

The January 2011 Biggest Naked Issue Ever edition of Gay Times features boybanders, soap stars, Big Brother alumnis, X-Factor contestants, and even an ex-Neighbours actor.
All are in the buff, but tasteful angles mean the pics don’t show their bits.
23-year-old actor Sam Clark (pictured), who played Ringo Brown on Neighbours until earlier this year, is now launching his music career in the UK, and was interviewed on his music after his revealing photoshoot. See the clip below.

NESTOR WINS TENNIS CANADA'S MALE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

TORONTO -- Doubles star Daniel Nestor has won Tennis Canada's outstanding male player of the year award for a fourth straight time.
The 38-year-old left-hander from Toronto teamed with Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic to win the French Open plus six other tournaments on the ATP Tour this season.
Nestor and Zimonjic finished the season ranked third in the world, though the two have decided to part ways next season.
Nestor has won Tennis Canada's award 10 times in his career.
"I'm very honoured to receive this award and to have had the success I've had not only this year but throughout my career," Nestor said in a release Thursday. "I'm looking forward to next year and hopefully maintaining the same level of play and garnering great results."
Nestor also represented Canada in two Davis Cup ties in 2010, posting a 2-0 record in doubles and improving his win-loss total to 27-4.
Going into 2011, Nestor is the active career doubles title leader with 71. His new partner is Max Mirnyi of Belarus.

CNN Go names top 20 Korean male stars

Actors Jang Dong-gun and Daniel Henney, popstar Rain and 17 other hunks have been selected by CNN Go as South Korea’s 20 hottest male celebrities.

CNN Go is a new website by the leading news channel that is dedicated to what’s happening in Asia.
The top 20 list was selected based on the stars’ “drool” meter.
“There are men, and then there are MEN. These specially chosen South Korean celebs, who we've selected purely on the basis of how much drool they elicited from the female members of our staff, no doubt have solid acting, modeling and/or singing skills. But it's their chocolate abs, sublime faces and lean, mean, sex-machine bodies that get them a place on this list,” CNN Go wrote about the celebrities.
One interesting note is that the three stars of the hit drama series “Boys over Flowers” are on the list. They are Kim Hyun Joong, Lee Min-ho and Kim Bum.
Jang Dong-gun topped the list which CNN Go described as a star that “has been sizzling up screens for over a decade.”

A holiday baby for the Travoltas!

A publicist says the couple welcomed a baby boy Tuesday in Florida. They named their new son Benjamin.

The eight-pound, three-ounce boy was born at an undisclosed Florida hospital.

Spokeswoman Samantha Mast said in a statement late Tuesday that the couple and their daughter, Ella Bleu, “are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family.” The statement says Preston and baby Benjamin “are healthy and doing beautifully.”

This is the third child for Travolta and Preston, who were married in 1991. Their eldest child, son Jett, died last year at age 16.

But this year, photographer Karl Lagerfeld included a few men in his all-model cast, meaning that the girls get to gallivant across the pages with gorgeous male playthings.
Exhibit A: model Garrett Neff as Bacchus, the Greek god of wine and intoxication, flanked by models Isabeli Fontana and Bianca Balti in a tableaux Lagerfeld calls ‘Bacchus with Two Bacchantes.’

Detroit, Michigan Hip Hop superstar Eminem took home two American Music Awards, taped yesterday at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater, and airing on the ABC network. The Aftermath/Shady/Interscope Records artist won for "Best Male Artist" in the Rap/R&B category.
Additionally, Eminem's summer album, Recovery, won for "Best Album" in the Rap/R&B category. The album, featuring production from Just Blaze, Boi-1da and Havoc, may see triple platinum status by year's end. Eminem was not in attendance to receive his awards.

Wesley Snipes headed in prison

MIAMI (Reuters) - Actor Wesley Snipes was ordered on Friday to start serving a three-year prison sentence for failing to file income tax returns by a federal judge who rejected the Hollywood star's bid for a new trial.
"The defendant Snipes had a fair trial ... The time has come for the judgment to be enforced," U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges said in his ruling.
Revoking bail for the 48-year-old star of the "Blade" trilogy, the judge ordered him to report to prison as directed by the U.S. Marshals Service or Bureau of Prisons.
It was not clear when or where Snipes would begin serving his time behind bars, however. His lawyer, Daniel Meachum, has said he would appeal if a new trial was denied.
Meachum told the Orlando Sentinel the ruling was shocking.
"Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive," the newspaper quoted Meachum as saying.
Snipes had already lost his appeal of the prison sentence stemming from his 2008 conviction in Hodges' Ocala, Florida, court on three counts of "willful failure to file tax returns" for 1999 through 2001.
Snipes was found not guilty of five other counts in the high-profile felony tax case.
In seeking a new trial, Meachum had argued that jurors in the original trial were biased and that the prosecution's star witness had his own criminal problems.
At his sentencing, prosecutors said Snipes, a resident of Windermere, Florida, had earned more than $38 million since 1999 but had filed no tax returns or paid any taxes through October 2006.
Although he is best known for his roles in action films, Snipes has also had critical success in comedies like "White Men Can't Jump" in 1992. He played the lead in director Spike Lee's interracial drama "Jungle Fever" in 1991 and also played the jazz saxophonist in Lee's "Mo' Better Blues" in 1990.
Eric Thompson, a supervisor in the U.S. Marshals Service office in Orlando, Florida, said the Bureau of Prisons would notify Snipes and his lawyer of a surrender date.
"He'll probably get it by certified mail," Thompson said.
He declined to say what prison was likely to be selected for Snipes except to say that it would not be in Florida.
A listing for Snipes already posted on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website says his prisoner ID or registration number as 43355-018, his location is "in transit" and his release date is "unknown."

Los Angeles authorities have decided to drop charges against two surfers accused of attacking photographers who were following Matthew McConaughey on a beach in Malibu, California.

Skylar Peak and Philip Hildebrand were arrested and charged with misdemeanour battery after confronting photographers as they tried to get shots of the actor on the sand in June 2008.

The surfers allegedly threw one photographer into the water as he tried to shoot pictures, while another claims he was attacked and his camera was thrown into the sea by the pair.

The trial was twice declared a mistrial - in March it was called off after Peak's mother was seriously injured in a car crash, while in June the jury failed to reach a verdict.

The pair was back in court on Friday and was told the Los Angeles County district attorney's office has decided to dismiss the case.

The first production photo from "The Tourist" starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp has been outed. An exclusive courtesy of The Sun, the image captures the two main cast with a background of a canal in Venice, Italy.

Jolie kicked off the principal photography of the film in Paris, France late February. She later joined her co-star Depp in Italy in March. On date 17 of the same month, the production was wrapped earlier because too many people gathered around the location to take pictures of the two Hollywood stars.

The film itself follows Jolie's Elise, an Interpol agent who locates a criminal with whom she once had an affair. Her character will be entangled in a complicated relationship with Depp as he takes the role of an American tourist named Frank Taylor who is used by the female Interpol agent as a dupe to reach her goal.

Serving as a remake of 2005 French film entitled "Anthony Zimmer", "The Tourist" has Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck serving behind the lens with the script written by Christopher McQuarrie, Jeffrey Nachmanoff as well as Julian Fellowes. Paul Bettany and Timothy Dalton are additionally among the cast of this thriller, which is scheduled for 2011 release.

A Colorado prosecutor said on Tuesday night that an agreement had been reached with Charlie Sheen, below right, the “Two and a Half Men” star, in a case involving a domestic dispute between him and his wife, The Associated Press reported. Arnold Mordkin, the chief deputy district attorney of Pitkin County, confirmed the agreement to The A.P. but declined to provide details. Mr. Sheen was arrested in Aspen on Christmas Day after his wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen, called 911 after an argument. Mr. Sheen was charged with second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief, and he originally pleaded not guilty to those charges in March. Yale Galanter, a lawyer for Ms. Sheen, told The A.P. that a plea agreement had been reached, adding that the terms could not be revealed because “a deal is not a deal until the judge approves it.” Mr. Sheen’s trial was scheduled for July 21, but he is now scheduled to be in court on Monday for a hearing. Last month he announced that he had reached an agreement to return to “Two and a Half Men” for two more seasons.
